OUR VISION

WE ARE A JESUS-LOVING COMMUNITY

Enthralled by Glory . Transformed by Grace . Sent Out in Love

FOR THE KINGDOM OF GOD.

Who We Are

We are an intergenerational community of people who are experiencing God’s love and transforming grace through Jesus Christ. As we experience God’s love in deeper ways, we are seeking to grow in our love of Jesus and others. We desire to be a community of authentic relationships, permeated by grace, grounded in God’s Word, empowered by the Holy Spirit. We want to welcome everybody, regardless of their background, to experience with us the transforming grace of God in Jesus Christ.

Established in 1991 by a group of people overwhelmed by God’s grace in Jesus Christ, Greenwood Community Church is a congregation of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.

OUR VALUES

Enthralled by Glory

Jesus-Loving
We want everything we’re about individually and as a community to be an expression of our genuine love of Jesus Christ so that He’s made famous. (Matthew 22:37, John 21:15)

Word and Spirit
We cherish both the Bible as God’s written Word and the power of the Holy Spirit for fruitful ministry that brings the Kingdom of God. (Acts 1:8, Romans 8:5-13, Galatians 5:16-18, 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Hebrews 4:12)

God-Focused Worship
We value offering our whole lives to glorify and please God through corporate and private worship in Spirit and Truth. (Psalm 95:6; 145:11-12, John 4:23, Romans 12:1-2, Hebrews 10:19-25; 12:28-29, 1 Peter 2:9, Revelation 5:1-14)

Corporate and Personal Prayer
We express our faith in the Triune God by relying on prayer for worship, healing, direction and transformation. (Matthew 7:7-11, Ephesians 6:18, Philippians 4:6, James 5:13-16)

Transformed by Grace

The Centrality of the Heart
We will call one another towards the goal of loving Jesus with genuine affections of our hearts rather than mere behavior modification or religious observance. (Proverbs 4:23, Matthew 15:8, Romans 10:9-10)

Grace-Permeated
We value and give thanks that we have been rescued by the love and grace of God through faith in Jesus and by grace we are being restored into wholeness and maturity in Christ. Humbled by this grace we have received, we desire for grace to permeate everything we do. (2 Corinthians 3:18, Ephesians 1:3-6, Ephesians 2:8-9, 1 Peter 3:18)

Equipping for Loving Jesus
We will offer practical Biblical instruction for people to grow as disciples in Christ. We believe a true disciple is one who seeks to love and obey Jesus in all areas of life. (John 14:23, Ephesians 4:11-16, 1 John 2:3-6)

Transformation and Healing
Because God has promised to transform us, we value seeing lives healed and broken hearts made whole. We are a community committed to praying for all kinds of healing. (Isaiah 35, Isaiah 61:1-4, 2 Corinthians 3:18, James 5:13-16)

Authentic Relationships
We value playful, transparent, welcoming, transformational community. We seek to not take ourselves too seriously but instead to take Jesus seriously. We value expressing that the relational Triune God has brought us into His joy. (Acts 2:42, Ephesians 4:2, Hebrews 10:19-25,1 Peter 3:8)

Intergenerational Life
We value multi-age communities worshipping, growing and serving together. (Deuteronomy 6:4-7, 2 Chronicles 20:13, Psalm 145:4, Acts 21:5, 1 Corinthians 12:12-31)

Sent Out in Love

Serving the Unseen and the Unbelieving
We value serving those in and outside the family of God. We value serving the unseen and marginalized in our city and world. We value serving and reaching lost people everywhere with the Gospel of Jesus. (Matthew 25:34-40, Matthew 28:18-20, Luke 15:1-32, Romans 10:9-17)

Kingdom-Oriented
We want all of our energy to be offered towards the goal of seeing God’s Kingdom of rescue and restoration come on earth as it is in heaven. We believe the Kingdom crosses all denominational, racial, ethnic, cultural, political and socioeconomic lines, leaving nothing untouched and redeeming everything it touches. We release our people to have the greatest Kingdom impact possible. (Psalm 145:11-12, Matthew 6:10, Matthew 10:7, Matthew 24:14, Acts 28:31, Revelation 5:9-10)
